Board of Trustees - Vice Chair
Living in Medicine Hat for over 40 years with my parents and four siblings, I attended Central Park, Connaught, Alexandra Junior High School, Medicine Hat High School and Medicine Hat College.
My three children have attended the Medicine Hat Public School system since 1997. My parental experiences began when I became guardian to my eldest child who at seventeen months old with special needs joined the family. This new commitment provided me opportunities to learn how to manage her challenges and understand which education programs were available and which were the most beneficial for her as I navigated through the school system. I am proud to say she finished high school and is now a contributing member of the community. My other two school age children are a daughter who is attending Medicine Hat High School and a son who is attending the Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre.
I have always been motivated and found the skills to be active in their education by participating in the various activities on parent councils and co-coordinating spirit day lunch programs.
It was instilled into me at an early age that we must give back to our community. My goal is to do just that! Over the years I have been a community volunteer and am currently a member of our local Kiwanis Club and The Tomorrow Project.
Having been successful in winning both the by-election and the general election for public school trustee in 2013, I am committed to our school district, it's staff and teachers and find it a privilege to serve the children and their parents in our community.
