Early Learning Programs

Medicine Hat Public School Division offers a variety of programs and settings to provide early learning support for children from 3 to 5 years of age. Early Learning Programs offer language-enriched play-based environments taught by certified teachers. A multi-disciplinary team of professionals work together to provide programming designed to enhance language, social, physical, intellectual, creative, cultural and emotional development. Educators provide rich and varied opportunities that recognize children learn and develop at different rates and in different ways.

Our educational practices are shaped by a strong focus to create learning environments that honour the unique individuality of each child and nurture their growth in body, mind and spirit. A variety of early childhood programs and settings have been designed to include children with assessed developmental delays from 3 to 5 years old, and play partners 3 to 4 years of age. Program Unit Funding (PUF) or mild to moderate support is available depending on your child’s assessed level of need. There is an opportunity for families to choose from a variety of early childhood programs including; school based Early Learning Programs, and district support within private community preschools and child care centres.

Kindergarten Programs

All elementary schools offer kindergarten programs to meet the needs of our children. Please contact your neighbourhood school for more information regarding these options and the additional support that can be provided outside of the kindergarten program.
