Cannabis SurveyBelow is a letter from Alberta Deputy Minister of Education, Curtis Clarke, urging Albertans to particpate in the provincial Cannabis Survey...

On June 2, 2017, the Honourable Kathleen Ganley, Minister of Justice and Solicitor General, launched the Alberta government’s formal public engagement on the legalization of cannabis in Alberta.

As the Government of Alberta prepares to make a number of decisions about this important issue – many of them unprecedented – we are asking all Albertans to share their views so that legalization in our province reflects your values.

From now until July 31, 2017, you can provide your feedback to government by:
completing an online survey at; and
providing written submissions to the Alberta Cannabis Secretariat at All submissions received will be posted online for everyone to read and consider.

You can also find additional information about cannabis and legalization, as well as a community toolkit that can help guide a community conversation on cannabis legalization, on the Alberta Government website at

The issue of cannabis legalization in Canada is complex, and it has the potential to impact everyone. We want to ensure Albertans have the opportunity to share their input and perspectives so government can develop the programs and policies that make sense for Albertans.

Thank you in advance for participating in these engagement opportunities. Please encourage your colleagues, family members, friends and neighbours to participate as well.

Government looks forward to hearing your views on this important matter.
