Medicine Hat Outreach School provides unique learning opportunities for individuals to grow and develop within a diverse, safe and nurturing environment. In addition to the Central High Distance Learning program, there are five alternative education programs offered through the Outreach School. These programs are housed in non-traditional school settings, and similarly all have the direct or indirect involvement of other community agencies.
Saamis REAL Program:
Designed for high school youth with severe behavioural and/or emotional disorders, this program focuses on education, vocational preparation, as well as individual and family counseling.
McMan REAL Program:
Junior high youth with severe behavioural and/or emotional disorders are the focus of this program which provides education, vocational preparation, individual and family counseling.
YMCA Stay-In-School Junior High Program:
Designed for junior high students who have not been successful in a traditional school setting due to behavioural and/or emotional issues, the program emphasizes education and life skills.
Young Mom’s Program:
This program is intended for pregnant and parenting high school teens who require additional educational support while pregnant or parenting.
PAS Adolescent Services:
This 6-week program guides junior high and high school students who require professional mental health and academic assistance in a supportive small group environment.
Central High School Program:
High school students who wish to complete online or distance education courses in order to upgrade or achieve their high school diploma requirements can succeed in this program.
